Troisième album studio solo et Joe Walsh le publie en 1974. L'album est attrayant et se veut introspectif, se faisant le témoignage des expériences de l'artiste. Faisant suite à deux disques tutoyant déjà le haut niveau, So What n'échappe pas à la règle de la qualité. Grâce à des compositions très touchantes, au talent d'un line-up renouvelé mais élargi, toujours top niveau, et grâce à la présence d'une chorale étoilée, constituée de Don Henley, de Glenn Frey et de Randy Meisner, les potes  «Eagles»(JeanClaude)
