Sorti en 1970, His Band And The Street Choir de Van Morrison (après Astral Weeks et Moondance) montre une autre facette du talent de l'irlandais. Son idée de départ était de faire un disque a cappella et il travailla en ce sens, mais sa maison de disques qui résonnait plus en espèces sonnantes et trébuchantes, souhaitait du tube. Une fois le dos tourné, elle s'est emparé des pistes pour en faire un disque qui ne reflétait pas du tout ce que ressentait VM (l'irlandais, pris au piège, mais surtout tête de lard, se ne laissera plus jamais imposer quoi que ce soit par la suite). Il n'en demeure pas moins que cet album est plus que plaisant. (jean-claude)
